'Sangdil Sanam' is a story based on pride, greed & betrayal. Kishan's father (Aloknath) is a Bank officer and his best friend Sanam's father (Kiran Kumar) is a peon in that office. They both decide to get their kids engaged i.e. Kishan (Salman Khan)and Sanam (Manisha Koirala). During the engagement Kiran Kumar robs the bank money and the blame comes on Aloknath for which he is imprisoned. Salman and his mother leave the city and settle down at their uncle's place in the village. Salman's mother reminds him of his engagement with Manisha and and he comes to town, but finds his love totally changed, she is now a rich man's daughter full of pride, anger and hate. He wants to remind her of the love but in vain. So he wants to return but his friends challenge him to make her his wife and he accepts the challenge. When Aloknath comes out of jail he comes to know that the robbery was done by his own friend Kiran Kumar and he set out to find his friend to take revenge. So the fight begins between Salman, Manisha, Aloknath and Kiran Kumar. Manisha comes to know about her father's deeds and she marries Salman and the law puts Kiran Kumar behind bars. So the ultimate victory is of LOVE.
