Synopsis Ram (Raj Kapoor) is a man who discovers that not all the wealth and possessions in the world can make for peace and happiness. He lives with his father, Dewan Saheb (Prithviraj Kapoor), a man who lives entirely in the past. Ram’s son, Rajesh (Randhir Kapoor) returns from his studies abroad and almost immediately the household is plunged into chaos as Dewan Saheb and Rajesh clash on almost every issue. Things reach breaking point when Dewan Saheb disapproves of Rajesh’s choice of a bride, the lovely, modern Monica (Babita). Torn between father and son is Ram….

This is the only film in which three generations of Kapoors worked together. It was Randhir Kapoor’s directorial debut, in which he directed his then wife-to-be, Babita. Superb music from Shankar – Jaikishen marks the last time they worked in an RK Films production.
