Jaanwar is a story of two men, with a very strict, wealthy and proud father. The Jaanwar in this film is played by their father (Prithviraj Kapoor), who has big plans for both his sons, which include both marrying namely and weathly girls. As fate has it, both his sons fall in love with very poor but beautiful girls. Their father arranges for the older brother to get married, as on the same day he learns his older son is a father to be. He tries to buy the girl out of his families lives forever, but that only humiliates her, as she runs away to attempt suicide. His second son is at his "bhabhi's" rescue as he takes her to Calcutta to find his brother. He ends up losing the love of his life through many misunderstandings caused as he helps his Bhabhi, as his father also plays a major part in the break-up. When the sons find out about their father breaking up their love, both the sons leave their father, and their mother joins. Will this old lonely man learn the importance of family and love?
