Sensitively directed by Kishore Sahu, this is the poignant love story of a dedicated doctor (Raaj Kumar), who has an extremely callous and possessive wife (Nadira). A nurse (Meena Kumari) who works in the hospital with him, is deeply in love with him and the film depicts her vain struggle to suppress her feelings for him. In the course of their work, they are constantly thrown together in situations that involve high emotional drama. How love triumphs in the end forms the plot of this gripping romance. Meena Kumari’s matchless performance and Raaj Kumar’s restrained histrionics are the highlights of the film. Shankar – Jaikishen’s chartbusting musical score became a hit even before the film was released and all the songs are real gems – ‘Sheeshaye Dil Itna Na Uchalo’, ‘Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh’ and ‘Mera Dil Ab Tera O Sajna’ are hauntingly beautiful.
